Appointment of new non-executive director

Babcock is pleased to announce the appointment to its board, with effect from 1 February 2016, of Prof. Victoire de Margerie as an independent non-executive director. She will also serve on the board’s Remuneration, Nominations and Audit & Risk Committees.

As described further below, Prof. de Margerie has extensive experience as a non-executive director in a number of UK and other European publicly quoted companies and in her earlier executive career held senior management positions in several leading industrial businesses in France, Germany and the USA.

Commenting on her appointment, Babcock Chairman, Mike Turner, said: ’The Board is very pleased that Victoire has agreed to join us. I have no doubt that her background, experience and outlook will prove invaluable to us in Babcock’s continued development, particularly internationally.’

Biographical Information

Directorships of Publicly Quoted Companies -currently and in the past 5 years:

  • Prof. de Margerie is currently a non-executive director of Morgan Advanced Materials Plc (UK) Italcementi S.p.A (Italy), Eurazeo S.A. (France) and Arkema (France).
  • Between 2012 and 2014 she was a non-executive director of Norsk Hydro ASA (Norway) and between 2007 and 2011 was a non-executive director of Outokumpu OyJ (Finland).

During her executive career Prof. de Margerie held senior management positions in France, Germany and the USA with Atochem, Carnaud MetalBox and Pechiney.
