Dean

Multi-skilled Operative

Meet Dean, a Multi-skilled Operative at our Clyde site, who joined Babcock looking for clear career progression routes and a better work/life balance after working in the hospitality sector as an operations manager.

“Changing career has given me the step change in my career progression that I was looking for. Take the leap and take advantage of the opportunities available to work in defence and nuclear. Give yourself the chance to boost your career and reach your highest potential.”

Change your career to boost yourprogression

Most recently, Dean was an operations manager for an entertainment and hospitality company covering events, catering and hotels. Having always wanted to work in an industry that has an important purpose and impact, with clear progression routes and working patterns, Dean has found his role at Babcock to be an ideal match.

“I’ve found the work really enjoyable and it’s really given me the step change in my career that I was looking for. I’ve also found that the work/life balance suits me better, especially compared to what I experienced working in the hospitality sector.”

At Babcock our people have a role that’s out of the ordinary, working on some truly inspiring programmes. We make the most of all talents, providing the training our people need to make the most of the skills they already have and to gain plenty of new ones.

“I’ve always been interested in the Armed Forces, particularly the Royal Navy, so a role supporting submarines and defence was the perfect fit. I’ve found that my previous experience as an operations manager has meant many of my skills have been transferable. In particular, my ability to multi-task, react to changes and problem solve coherently.

“I would actively encourage anyone looking to make a career change. Take the leap and take advantage of the opportunities available to work in defence and nuclear. Give yourself the chance to boost your career and reach your highest potential. I’ve found that Babcock will support you to achieve this.”
