Babcock awarded ‘excellent’ inspection outcome by Education Scotland

Education Scotland is the national body in Scotland for supporting quality and improvement in learning and teaching. Part of their expansive remit is the inspection regime of schools across Scotland, and they have recently introduced a new inspection schedule across the national Modern Apprenticeship programme. This new inspection regime is being conducted at a sector level, and will inspect all providers and subject areas.

Babcock was one of the first providers to be inspected, with the inspection focusing on our delivery of Modern Apprenticeships across the hospitality sector. The inspection took place in August, and the inspection team spent a lot of time observing the quality of our delivery models and talking to employers, modern apprentices and staff.

We are delighted to have been awarded a ‘Grade 1- Excellent’ across four judgement areas, defining our provision as ‘outstanding and sector leading’. The fifth judgement area was awarded a ‘Grade 2 – Very Good’ outcome, with the report validating the strength of our hospitality apprenticeships across Scotland.

The inspectors praised a number of key areas of delivery, particularly noting the strength of our strategic leadership, our ability to meet the needs of stakeholders and the culture of quality across our provision. With a commitment to delivering these high standards across every occupational area, we look forward to showcasing our provision in future sector wide inspections.
