Babcock elevates decade-long partnership with major armed forces charity

Babcock has elevated its nearly decade-long support by becoming an official Corporate Partner of the armed forces charity, Soldiers’, Sailors’ and Airman’s Families Association (SSAFA).

Given the nature of our work, we’re proud of our longstanding history of standing side by side with the armed forces, as well as our recruitment and development of ex-services personnel both in the UK and around the globe. Our size and breadth enable us to offer a range of career paths to veterans where their unique skills and experience are valued. Every year we recruit around 1,000 people into our business who have a connection to the armed forces, whether as a veteran, reservist, cadet-instructor, or as a member of an armed forces family.

Our partnership with SSAFA focuses on supporting the mentoring service, helping to fund the training of volunteer mentors who will provide support and guidance to service personnel transitioning back into civilian life, some after many years in their military roles.

John Howie, Babcock’s Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, said: “SSAFA’s invaluable work supporting serving personnel, veterans and their families aligns perfectly with our commitment at Babcock to make a meaningful impact on the lives of the armed forces community. We’re incredibly proud to elevate our long-standing relationship with SSAFA to an official Corporate Partnership.”

The Head of Corporate Engagement for SSAFA, Jenny King, added: “Supporting our mentoring service through an initial donation of £15,000 is an amazing way to launch our corporate partnership with Babcock.

“The mentoring service has a proven and successful track record of long-term support during transition and, for up to two years, post discharge, and it’s down to the invaluable backing of companies like Babcock that we can deliver it.”
