Showing our support this Armed Forces week
Today marks the beginning of Armed Forces week. A chance to show our support and celebrate the contributions of the Armed Forces community and #SaluteOurForces.
We support the Royal Navy, British Army, and Royal Air Force and are committed to the Total Support Force concept that helps our Armed Forces to deliver flexible solutions around the world.
In the past year, a few ways we’ve helped to create a safe and secure world include creating and fitting the first 3D metal printed parts to be used across the British Army’s active armoured fleets, executing the post-life extension on the Royal Navy’s Type 23 frigate HMS Argyll and partnering with the RAF to progress the application of a range of sustainable aviation technologies.
We’re a major employer of service leavers and Reservists through our active recruitment approach, which we were awarded a Gold Award for in the Ministry of Defence Armed Forces Covenant Employer Recognition Scheme in 2015.
In the lead up to Reserves Day on Wednesday and Armed Forces Day on Saturday, we’ll be sharing how we’re celebrating the week across our sites, stories from our Reservist employees and details of the Armed Forces Day event we’re sponsoring in Plymouth.
We’re proud to share that Babcock employee and Army Reserve Jenifer Thomson had the honour of raising her Corps Flag in the garden of the House of Commons to mark the start of Armed Forces week. She was selected from thousands of Reserves by the Corps Colonel of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) following her participation in the King’s Coronation Parade.
Jenifer said “I was very proud to raise the REME flag to mark the start of Armed Forces Week. I hugely appreciate that Babcock and the Armed Forces have such a close partnership which enables me to have some amazing experiences.”
This week is a great opportunity to say thank you to the service men and women that play an integral part in protecting the nation’s security at home and overseas. Find out more about Babcock’s Armed Forces commitment here.
