Retail apprentice first
Babcock and Asda joined forces back in 2013 and have been delivering an exciting and innovative apprenticeship programme to Asda employees across the UK. Passionate about delivering ground-breaking workforce development solutions, Asda has been involved in the apprenticeship Trailblazer groups from day one, working collaboratively with retail employers to develop the new retail apprenticeship standards.
Babcock’s delivery of the Asda Retail Apprenticeship Programme supports a vibrant and contemporary approach to apprenticeships, with progression and reward at the heart of the apprenticeship programme. Babcock and Asda launched the delivery of the new retail standards in 2017, with a number of apprentices now nearing their end-point assessment. Amelia Dawson (pictured below) is the first Asda apprentice to tackle the new approach to end-point assessment.
To demonstrate she has developed the required skills, knowledge and behaviours of the retailer standard, Amelia needed to pass an on-line test, 2 hour observation and 1 hour professional discussion, all conducted by an independent end-point assessor. Having undertaken a range of mock assessments with her Babcock trainer, Amelia was well prepared and passed every element on her first attempt. Congratulations to Amelia and the wider team of Babcock and Asda apprenticeship professionals who support the delivery of this compelling apprenticeship programme.
