Northern Ireland’s hospitality industry celebrated in style at the 22nd Institute of Hospitality NI Awards presented at a prestigious gala ball and awards ceremony on 5th May 2017, held in Belfast Titanic.
The event was hosted this year by BBC’s Barra Best and UTV’s Pamela Ballantine.
The Institute of Hospitality NI annually recognises the most dedicated and passionate professionals working across Northern Ireland’s ever-expanding hospitality industry.
One of the most prestigious awards at the event was won by Babcock learner, Jayne McFetridge, who scooped the Northern Ireland Apprentice of the Year Award.
Maria Clifford, Babcock’s Northern Ireland Regional Manager agreed with the judges by saying: ‘Jayne has been an outstanding learner who has embraced the apprenticeship programmes with enthusiasm, hard work and dedication, exemplifying the true values and merits of the Apprentice of the Year award. Jayne and her vocational learning advisor Damien McKibben, who has supported Jayne throughout the completion of her Level 2 Professional Cookery Apprenticeship and her progression onto the Level 3, both fully deserve the recognition this award brings’.
Ashley Walker Human Resources Manager at Golf Holdings Ltd, the parent company of Wine Inns where Jayne is employed, explained further Jayne’s remarkable achievement: ‘We are delighted that Jayne has won the Professional Apprentice of the Year Award at the recent Hospitality N.I. From day one, she has demonstrated a true passion and commitment to her learning and furthering her career as a Chef. Jayne is now a permanent member of our team and she has inspired us all with her positive attitude, enthusiasm and dedication. We are very proud of what she has achieved so early in her career.’
Jayne who started her employment at Wine Inns in September 2015 as Apprentice Commis Chef has been promoted to Senior Commis Chef.
