Babcock to deliver fleet management services to MSP Group
ADELAIDE, Australia: Global engineering services company Babcock International Group has expanded its South Australian footprint by securing a five year contract to deliver fleet management services to MSP Group, the fast growing diversified construction and building products company owned by local businessman Mark Pickard.
Babcock Australasia – the local arm of Babcock International Group and based in Adelaide – secured the contract after a competitive tender for fleet management, repairs and maintenance services of Heavy Mobile Equipment and Concrete Agitators for an initial five year period.
Babcock is one of the fastest growing engineering support services companies in the Australian market having recently added Australian Helicopters and Bond Helicopters Australia to its portfolio in 2014. The company has 700+ skilled staff working within Australia and New Zealand who design, build, manage, operate and maintain assets that are essential to Babcock customers and their operations.
The MSP Group contract was secured by the Australian-based fleet management team which focusses on fleet and asset management in four market-specific business streams: defence, airports, emergency services and mining & construction.
“This is the first – but very important – commercial contract win for our Fleet Management business unit in Australia and will assist to deliver further opportunities for growth both within MSP and with other Australian companies,” said Babcock Australia Chief Executive Craig Lockhart.
MSP Group has been operating for 35 years producing and selling quarry products, concrete and building products. Babcock will establish a workshop, mobile maintenance units and personnel to service the MSP Group fleet.
Mr Pickard said MSP Group prided itself on being the market leader for innovation in the South Australian Construction Materials Industry.
“We see Babcock as the leader of innovation in its chosen field and a natural fit to partner with our business,” Mr Pickard said.
“As we got deeper into our review process it became obvious that Babcock provided the solution that gave us the flexibility, risk management and financial outcomes we needed,” said Kane Salisbury, Chief Executive of Mining and Construction Materials at MSP Group.
“This contract will enable us to focus on what we do best, which is to provide great materials to the construction industry.”
The contract came into effect from June 1, 2015 and will generate AUD$18 million in revenue for Babcock Australasia
“The win is great news for the Australian Fleet Management team who have a strong pipeline of opportunities in place,” Mr Lockhart said.
