Babcock scales-up support to Ukraine

Babcock has been awarded a further contract by the UK Ministry of Defence to boost support to Ukraine through a 15-month extension to continue supporting urgent operational requirements for Ukraine’s military land assets.
We will support Ukraine’s armed forces by ensuring its vehicles, such as Challenger 2 tanks, are available for service. Importantly, we will share our engineering know-how by training the Ukrainian military to conduct the repairs in country, as well as managing the customer’s supply chain and spares.
Following an initial contract award in July 2023, this extension will see us optimise our unrivalled knowledge of supporting military platforms and unique perspective on maintenance, repairs and overhaul.
David Lockwood, Chief Executive Officer, said: “Ensuring Ukraine’s military vehicles and equipment are back in frontline action with no delay is critical. Babcock is proud to have the know-how and expertise to continue to support these operations for both the UK and Ukrainian governments.
“This latest contract extension demonstrates the level of confidence in Babcock’s capability to deliver vital services where and when they matter most.”
In June 2021, we signed a Memorandum of Implementation with the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and the UK Government and have been delivering technical and engineering support to Ukraine’s military from the wider region since July 2023. The military assets that we’ve been supporting over the last two years include platforms donated by the UK Ministry of Defence under the various tranches of financial and non-financial support provided by the UK.
