Babcock utilising conceptual engineering support for new customer, Twinza Oil Limited

Babcock International Group (Babcock), the defence, security and aerospace company has successfully delivered conceptual engineering support to provide a design for a combined condensate and LPG gas floating storage and offloading feasibility study for Twinza Oil Limited.

Utilising Babcock’s experience in ship design, construction management, mooring and motion analysis, asset support and naval architecture the team undertook the 8-week concept study for a new field development in Papua New Guinea. Major hull conversion scopes and LPG chilling plant topsides were defined and the hull evaluated for strength and motion.

This work package was delivered by a team of qualified and experienced Babcock people who optimised their conceptual and functional engineering and design capabilities. With more than 700 engineers and designers in its marine sector, Babcock works closely with clients in the UK and internationally to develop technical solutions and designs. The company provides engineering support services including concept engineering, pre-front end engineering design (pre-FEED), feasibility and technical analysis, FEED, basic, detail and production design, and project management and commission support for new build, conversions and in-service vessels.

Neil Young, Babcock’s Engineering and Technology Director said:
“We were delighted to work with our new customer Twinza Oil Limited to carry out conceptual engineering support.

“Our team of engineers and designers have shown demonstrable quality on this study and using their global reach they have provided a cost effective and practical solution for the customer. We were able to flex and adapt to meet our customer’s expectation and look forward to competing for future pre-FEED and FEED work.”

Babcock’s team of engineers and designers have used their deep specialist knowledge of concept capabilities on over 200 pre-FEED and FEED work packages across the globe.
