Babcock Australasia supports launch of veteran and emergency services research institute, MESHA

Babcock Australasia has pledged its support for The Hospital Research Foundation Group’s new research institute, Military and Emergency Services Health Australia (MESHA) as a panel sponsor of the Remembrance Day Breakfast held in Adelaide today.

As successor to The Road Home, MESHA is a collaborative research institute dedicated to informing and improving policy, programs and services for current and former military and emergency service personnel and their families.

Members of Babcock’s veterans’ and emergency services community attended the event alongside the Governor Hieu Van Le AC, Premier Steven Marshall MP, MESHA’s CEO, Paul Flynn and Executive Director, Dr Miranda Van Hooff, keynote speaker Curtis McGrath OAM and panel speakers Genevieve Rueger, Graham Cornes OAM and Jock Statton AM.

Babcock Australasia’s Chief Financial Officer & Executive Director Corporate and Chair of Babcock’s Corporate Social Responsibility and Sponsorship (CSRS) Committee, Andrew Cridland, said the sponsorship recognises an alignment of values between the two organisations.

“Babcock and MESHA have a shared focus on supporting Australia’s current and former service personnel, emergency medical services and law enforcement,” Mr Cridland said.

“As a defence, aviation and critical services company, Babcock values the research that will be conducted by MESHA to preserve the health and wellbeing of veterans, reservists, emergency services personnel and police.

“The Remembrance Day Breakfast provided attendees with the opportunity to acknowledge and salute the many who have served and those who continue to serve and protect all Australians.

“With a workforce of highly qualified ex-service personnel and active reservists supporting defence and emergency services, Babcock understands the importance of events such as the Remembrance Day Breakfast.

“Babcock is proud to have sponsored the panel through our CSRS Committee and is committed to supporting the veteran and emergency services community.”

MESHA’s Executive Director, Dr Miranda Van Hooff, said Babcock’s sponsorship of the panel at the annual Remembrance Day Breakfast represents the beginning of a valuable relationship of two organisations with a shared vision to support current and ex-serving service personnel.

“Thank you to Babcock Australasia for their commitment to us during a very exciting period of growth as we rebrand to Military and Emergency Services Health Australia (MESHA),” Dr Van Hooff said.

“MESHA will exist to optimise the mental health, wellbeing and functioning of current and former serving Australian military members, emergency service personnel and their families through the delivery and support of culturally and industry informed research and support services.

“MESHA has a unique focus on research and programs that are co-designed and is guided by and responsive to the immediate and long-term industry needs.”
