Marking milestones in Poland

Last week we celebrated a number of major milestones in the MIECZNIK frigate programme in Poland.

Following the Strategic Cooperation Agreement signed in 2022 we were pleased to finalise the design licence agreement with the PGZ- MIECZNIK consortium which allows them to build three frigates for the Polish Navy.

This contract is the result of strong collaboration and is another export licence for our Arrowhead 140 product, following a similar agreement in Indonesia in 2021.

To mark the start of the construction on the first MIECZNIK frigate, last week our employees, including our CEO David Lockwood, were pleased to attend the first cut of steel at the PGZ Shipyard in Gydnia. The event was also attended by senior figures from Polish Political, Armed Forces and Industrial life, making it a very proud occasion for the team involved.

At the milestone event, together with PGZ S.A, we also entered into a Framework Agreement with the intention of forming a joint venture that will further strengthen our strategic partnership. Combining our shipbuilding and equipment support capabilities, we will work more closely to deliver the MIECZNIK frigate programme.

This will also allow us to seek opportunities to partner in supporting other naval and wider defence programmes and the potential development of broader international opportunities, looking at optimising resources, capabilities and infrastructure across both organisations.

We look forward to progressing our relationships with our Polish colleagues and delivering a first class frigate for the Polish Navy.
